The 2012 Scholarship Competition             

 

The Evanston Music Club has a rich history of awarding countless scholarships to music students.  


The 2012 Evanston Music Club Scholarship Competition is open to those studying or living in Evanston and neighboring communities in the Chicago area. Vocalists between the ages of 17 and 30 and all other musicians between 17 and 25 are eligible to submit an application to audition.  Those chosen to audition will be notified of their specific audition times.

 

Auditions will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012, in the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton Street, Skokie, Illinois.

Contestants should prepare a 12-minute program from memory and should draw from music of different periods or styles. Singers should include an aria from an opera or oratorio. Each applicant must provide an accompanist if needed.

FORMER WINNERS OF SCHOLARSHIPS FROM THE EVANSTON MUSIC CLUB ARE NOT ELIGIBLE.

 

Winners of the 2012 competition will perform at the Evanston Music Club’s Scholarship Concert and Benefit Tea on May 21, 2012 at the Skokie Public Library.

Deadline for receipt of applications: March 19, 2012

*The scholarship to the pianist was named in memory of Daniel F. McCarthy, husband of Barbara  McCarthy,  a Life Member of the Evanston Music Club.

 

**The scholarship to the violist was donated by Evanston Music Club member Judy Perlman in memory of her sister, Marilyn Shonfeld.
