The Evanston Music Club has now merged into the North Shore Musicians Club. This site and all information about the scholarship competition will continue under the Evanston Music Club name until a new website is developed.
The Evanston Music Club meets September - May in members’ homes and other venues. Prospective members are encouraged to inquire about events.
Objectives of the club are:
- To stimulate and encourage study and performance of music from all musical periods among our members
- To encourage study and promote musical performance among young persons
- To award one or more scholarships to young music students each year.
For many years, the club has given scholarships to worthy and talented music students. These protégés have always justified the club’s interest in them. Many of the recipients have gone on to brilliant careers, including affiliations with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera, Chicago, Metropolitan Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra and the Pilgrim Chamber Players.
Scholarship recipients have included performers on piano, cello, violin, viola, flute, oboe, harp, clarinet, saxophone, double bass, trombone, harp, marimba and vocalists in all ranges.
